Foundations for Leaders Organizing for Water and Sustainability is a Climate Justice Community Council, leadership team, and community that brings unparalleled passion and diverse expertise on equity and environmental justice from all over the world, & from many rich traditions.

Who We Are

Uniquely led and founded by Women of Color in Boulder County, Colorado. We bring over forty years of combined community and climate justice experience, and speak a combined total of five languages.

What We Do

We build community climate justice leadership, beautify environments, and transform systems for justice and resilience, led by and for People of Color, Immigrants, affordable housing residents, LGBTQIA+ and Frontline communities.

Community Resilience Hubs

We are developing community leadership and building resilience. From permaculture and green infrastructure to solar power and emergency communications, we are initiating resilience hubs in Boulder County affordable housing communities.

Climate Justice Trainings (English & Spanish)

We provide comprehensive English & Spanish trainings to educate Frontline communities on climate justice, how it impacts our communities, and our roles in the movement— from our lens.

We facilitate hands-on educational experiences to strengthen and rebuild our local ecosystems, including workshops on water harvesting, rain gardens, native plants and edible forest gardening.

SNAP benefits were withheld from over 19,000 people In Boulder County. We joined grassroots partners to collaboratively fundraise and call in philanthropy to support mutual aid and community-led efforts in this crisis. Help us meet immediate needs and build long-term resilience!

5 to 500: A People’s Plan for the Planet at Fresh Mode Fest 2025

This unique series to initiate a People’s Plan for Climate Justice brings some of our region’s powerful leaders with tangible ideas to inspire a greener more equitable Boulder County and world. This community classroom is dedicated to inspire a 500 year vision, with grounded innovations that can be implemented right now for Climate Justice. We will give some of this community vision and input to local government to shape the upcoming Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan update.

We will hear about regenerative food systems, arts , culture, and using Nature as a model for how we clean our wastes, air, land, and water locally. Then we’ll hear your ideas for our community.
